Hostel Committee

The Hostel committee shall consist of nominated/ elected members having 'Student' status residing in the respective blocks of the Hostel. Each of the hostel blocks forms a constituency for electing its representatives. The elected members of the Hostel Committee shall elect the President and Secretary from among themselves. The term of the Committee shall be for one year. On the first working day of the September every year, the Superintendent of the Hostel, through the Office of the Hostel president shall call for nomination indicating the number of vacancies in each block. The last date for filling and withdrawal of nomination and the date and time and place of election will also be indicated. The nominations will be in the prescribed form obtainable from the Hostel office and shall be filed with the Hostel Superintendent. The nomination will be scrutinized by the Superintendent. Elections will be held for those vacancies for which more than the required numbers of nominations have been received. The counting of votes and declaration of result will be made under the over-all supervision of the Superintendent. The declaration of result by the superintendent shall be the final and binding. The newly elected committee will elect a President and Secretary from amongst themselves. The vacant posts shall be filled up by the Hostel President by nominating members from unrepresented constituencies. The term of Office for such nominated members will be the same as that of the elected members will be the same as that of the elected members. The Superintendent shall formally inform the Principal about the formation of the New Hostel Committee members shall be filled by nominations made by the Hostel president. In case of delay in formation of the New Committee the Superintendent may request the Committee in office to continue for such period as may be decided upon by him.

The Hostel Committee shall meet at least once a month and more often if necessary. The quorum of the Hostel Committee shall be half of its total members. A member if he/she fails to attend three consecutive meetings without valid reasons and prior intimation, the same will be noted in proceeding of the meeting in a book and shall be signed by the members present and further necessary action will be taken.

The hostel Committee shall take active interest in general welfare of the student residing in the hostel and assist the Superintendent in maintaining the living standards. The Hostel Committee shall report to the principal on the services given by the Hostel Staff and contractors. The Hostel Committee shall assist the Superintendent in the timely allotment of the rooms, reports any unauthorized or misuse of Hostel or guest rooms and bring to notice any untoward incidence occurring in the Hostel premises. The Hostel Committee shall supervise and ensure proper and limited use of electricity and water in the Hostel premises at the time of acute shortage. The president, Hostel Committee shall be answerable to the Superintendent regarding the effectively discharge of duties by the Hostel Committee.

The Government of India has banned all types of "Ragging". It is considered as a serious cognizable offence. The principal has accordingly ordered that stipulated that for any type of raging on the campus and has there shall be not be any type of ragging on the campus and has stipulated that for those students who are found to be involved directly or indirectly in ragging, the following shall be punishment depending on the seriousness of the case:

In view of this and In order to let the fresh entrants settle down with peace and in harmonious atmosphere a fervent appeal is hereby made to all the senior student to refrain from ragging & wherever necessary, render appropriate advice to co-students to desists from any type of ragging.
